Nextcloud and structuring documents
Nextcloud

Nextcloud is Open Source Software designed to store and share files. And now there is the CiviCRM Nextcloud extension. If you are a Nextcloud user, the extension gives you the option to use CiviCRM to structure your Nextcloud. For example, you might want to store all the documents for one contact in the same folder. The Nextcloud extension creates this folder and displays a button on the contact card so you can easily find it. The same can be done for cases, events, memberships and expenses. CiviCRM thus becomes the tool to find your Nextcloud files.

If you are more CiviCRM-oriented, you can look at the extension from a different angle.  It helps you avoid storing files in CiviCRM. Instead of defining a bunch of custom file type fields, you just get a button on the contact card (or case screen) that directs you to a folder where you can put as many files as you want (and as big as Nextcloud allows).

You can find the Nextcloud extension on CiviCRM.org if you want to try it out. If you would like a demo or exchange views on how this solution could be applied in your organisation, please contact us. We would be happy to inform you about the possibilties.
